Abstract

Creighton University's yearbook, the Bluejay, was published from 1924 through 1941. Publication stopped during World War II and did not resume immediately following the war owing to a lack of student interest. The Bluejay returned in 1949 and was issued each year until 2011, the last year Creighton produced yearbooks.

Abstract

The Creighton Courier began in June 1912 as a semi-monthly supplement to the Creighton Chronicle, a university journal that mixed campus news with academic articles by faculty. The emergence of the Creightonian led to the discontinuation of the Courier in 1924, but it was revived in November 1925 as a publication aimed at alumni. The Creighton Courier ended in 1927 and was replaced by the Creighton Alumnus magazine.

Abstract

The first issue of the Creightonian came off the press in October 1922. The weekly student newspaper soon supplanted the Creighton Courier as the primary source of campus news. Today, the student-run Creightonian publishes a weekly print edition as well as an online version during the academic year. (The University Archives has archived the online version of the Creightonian since 2010 as part of a project to archive the university websites.)

Abstract James S. Foote, M.D. was a faculty member of the Schools of Medicine and Dentistry. He was a professor of histology, physiology, pathology, and clinical microscopy from 1893 to 1922. He was also a researcher and pathologist at the John A. Creighton College of medicine. Abstract Richard H. Hansen was born in Omaha, Nebraska, July 2, 1929. While attending the third grade at Holy Name School he became interested in American history and government. This interest is attributed to his teacher, Sister Mary Eugenia of the Order of Servants of Mary. Reading American history and biographies became his mode of relaxation.
